FISHING CREEK – Lower Township Police Department investigated the sexual assault of a 14-year-old female Sept. 23.
On Oct. 5, Derek E. Brant, 24, of the Fishing Creek section of Lower Township, was located and interviewed about the alleged incident.
Brant confessed to the incident and was charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, prostitution, and providing obscene material to a minor.
Judge Hillegass authorized the arrest warrants for Brant and Judge Porto set bail at $200,000 full cash.
Brant was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
