COURT HOUSE – A man who attempted to enter Coast Guard Training Center Cape May armed Jan. 9 will face federal weapons charges, according to published reports.
Dustin Peters, 25, of Wilmington N.C., was stopped by Coast Guard Security for a routine check of his vehicle, where he was found to be in possession of hollow-point ammunition, according to a release published by the Herald Jan. 10. Upon further investigation, by the Cape May Police Department, Peters was found to be in possession of an illegal assault weapon, numerous high capacity magazines for the weapon, body armor, and several rounds of ammunition.
After his hearing, Peters returned to the Cape May County Corrections Facility. He is scheduled to be picked up by U.S. Marshals Service Jan. 21.
