WILDWOOD – A man likely used a machete in a fight July 22, police said.
After a call came in alerting authorities of an altercation, members of the Wildwood Police Department raced to the 4200 block of Pacific Avenue.
Responding officers found a victim with a large cut across his side. The victim was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries.
After searching the area, police found a man who matched witness descriptions in possession of an 18-inch machete.
Edwin Cruz-Perez, 32, of Wildwood was detained without incident and arrested after a brief interview, police said.
He has been charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and a certain person not to be in possession of a weapon.
He is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
Any charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
