Lower Township Police Start Year on Busy Note

ERMA — Lower Township Police Department started the New Year on Jan. 1 at 1:45 a.m, by responding to a report of a large fight in progress in the parking lot of CJ’s Bar & Grill Restaurant in North Cape May.
Officers responded and defused the situation with no one wishing to sign complaints.
At 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a fight in progress inside the North Cape May Wawa Store where several display cases were knocked over during the incident. However, officers were able to restore order again with no complaints signed by the store management.
In addition, officers made two arrests for driving while intoxicated on Jan. 1.
From Jan. 1 through Jan. 6, officers responded to 10 domestic violence calls, making arrest in five of those calls for simple assault.
Officers responded to 13 disorderly conduct calls, 20 emergency medical calls, eight criminal mischief calls, six fire alarm calls, while responding to 16 suspicious persons calls.
Officers made 60 motor vehicle stops and conducted 174 property checks, while investigating six motor vehicle accidents including a major head-on motor vehicle accident on Fulling Mill Road on Jan. 4 in which a local man was critically injured.
Officers responded to 21 alarm calls and assisted other police agencies 15 times during the reporting period.
In all, officers responded to or investigated over 470 different incidents from Jan. 1-6 including the arrest of two individuals for Possession of Marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Jan. 5.
