Lower Police Make Drug Arrests in Pizzeria Parking Lot

SCHELLENGER LANDING –– Lower Township police got more than a slice at a local pizza place March 4, when they arrested three subjects on drug charges and outstanding bench warrants.
The arrests followed surveillance of the area for possible drug activity and wanted subjects.
Detectives observed a vehicle pull into a local pizzeria parking lot, but not go into the restaurant. Police said the subjects appeared to be involved in some type of suspicious activity.
Detectives approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Michael Russo, of Youngs Avenue in Wildwood, who was wanted for multiple outstanding bench warrants from various municipalities.
The front passenger, Bashir Edwards, 24, of Philadelphia, was in possession of 44 bags of possible crack cocaine.
The rear passenger identified as Jennyvon Vasquez, 22, of the 200 block of East Hand Avenue in Wildwood was in possession of three bags of marijuana and a large bag of possible crack cocaine.
They were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lower Township Police Department for processing.
Edwards was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Vasquez was charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine.
Russo was held on the bench warrants and transported to the county jail in lieu of bail.
Detectives Chris Lambert and Mel Hedum investigated the case.
