CREST HAVEN – Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, Middle Township Chief of Police Christopher Leusner, and school administrators of the Cape May County Technical High School jointly announced the completion of a Jan. 31 random K9 sweep of the Cape May County Technical High School for narcotics.
According to a release, on that date, after the start of the school day, a pre-planned, unannounced K9 sweep operation for illegal drugs was coordinated by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the Middle Township Police Department and by school officials. K9 Units from the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the random sweep of areas of the school.
Sutherland commended the cooperation of law enforcement agencies and the initiative of the technical school administrators in supporting drug prevention philosophies and initiatives.
The purpose of the operation was to help the administrators maintain a safe and drug-free school environment, as well as to send a strong deterrent message to students.
Law enforcement will continue to work closely with community and school officials on a regular basis to hold future operations throughout the Cape May County.
