Indictments Filed Aug. 28

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 24 indictments Aug. 28.

The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.  “Certain person not to have a weapon” is a charge that can be brought against individuals whose previous conviction(s) make it a crime for them to possess weapons.

The following actions are alleged by law enforcement agents. Persons named are innocent until proven otherwise in court.

James P. Dahlen Jr.

James Dahlen Jr., 51, of Court House was indicted for third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal trespass. The indictment states that Dahlen landed a plane on a restricted beach that is part of the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May in June.

Police reports stated that Dahlen worked as a mechanic at a local air service where he took an unauthorized flight in a Piper PA 12 eventually landing at the base. Dahlen fled the scene and later turned himself into authorities.

Latell Hands

Latell Hands is facing one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief.  The indictment states that Hands caused over $200 worth of damage to Ocean City municipal property.

Kyle Hipple

Kyle Hipple, 33, of Philadelphia, failed to stop his motor vehicle when signaled by Cape May police. He was indicted for third-degree eluding police in an incident that crossed jurisdictions from Cape May City to Lower Township.

Raymond Leps

Raymond Leps faces one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact related to incidents in Upper Township.

Eric Konewal

Also in Upper Township, Eric Konewal stands accused of third-degree theft by deception. The indictment cites an incident in October 2017 as the basis for the charge.

Jahquees Johnson, Gregory Ganski, Nelson Rivera

Jahquees Johnson, 19, of Burleigh, Gregory Ganski, 18, of Rio Grande and Nelson Rivera, of Dennis Township were each separately indicted for one count of resisting arrest. For Ganski and Rivera, the count was third degree. Johnson faces a fourth-degree count.

Rashee Barlow

Rashee Barlow, 31, of Cape May, was indicted on two counts of third-degree aggravated assault.  The indictment states that the incident met the definition of domestic violence.

Jason Baker, Christopher Balma, Nicholas Brown, Shannon Bernek, Larry Burton, Kyle Calise, Deanna Silva, Roy Silver, Jeffrey Thompson, John Tobinus

Each of the individuals listed was indicted on one count of third-degree possession of a CDS. Both Brown and Bernek also share a count for conspiracy to possess a CDS, third degree.  The individual cases occurred in Sea Isle City, Wildwood, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Upper Township.

Jesse Pearson

Jesse Pearson, 18, of Leesburg, was indicted for robbery in the first degree. An under-aged and unnamed accomplice, a 17-year-old from Villas, added to Pearson’s burden leading to a count for employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime, also in the first degree.

Three second-degree counts were added for possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of a weapon.  The weapon involved was a pellet handgun.  There was a final fourth-degree count for pointing the firearm at the victim.

Denise Serrano

Denise Serrano, 30, of Wildwood, was indicted on two counts of fourth-degree operating a motor vehicle on a second license suspension.

Mikea Rivers

Mikea Rivers, 25, of Philadelphia, faces a six-count indictment related to a shooting in a parking lot adjacent to the Wildwood Boardwalk in May.  Rivers was indicted on two counts of second-degree aggravated assault and two counts of fourth degree. She also faces two counts for second degree weapons charges related to a Ruger gun.

Joshua Sanchez, Nick McNeal

Joshua Sanchez, 22, and Nick McNeal, 19, both of Woodbine, were indicted for second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, along with fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon, hollow point bullets. In addition, Sanchez faces a count for second-degree certain person given his previous conviction in 2016 for intent to distribute a CDS.

Robert M. Brown

The grand jury returned an 11-count indictment against Robert Brown, of Rio Grande. Brown was indicted on two counts of third-degree possession of a CDS in the third degree, two counts of possession with intent to distribute, also third degree, two counts of intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property, both second degree.

A stolen antique firearm and hollow point bullets added counts for unlawful possession of a weapon, second degree, fourth-degree prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS crime, second degree, and receiving stolen property, third degree.

Lastly, a previous felony conviction in Florida, led to a second-degree count for certain person not to have a weapon.

Tyrone Selby, Elaine Delgado

Elaine Delgado and Tyrone Selby, 29, of Millville, were indicted on three third-degree counts for unlawful use of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and conspiracy.  They also face two fourth-degree counts for theft and unlawful theft of a credit card.

The indictment states that the two took a card belonging to a local business and used it for purchases at a convenience store and two gas stations.
