Drug Investigation Leads to Search and Heroin Seizure

ERMA – On Nov. 17 at approximately 9:15 p.m., following a lengthy investigation into the
possible distribution of heroin, the Lower Township Police Department executed a Search
Warrant in the 600 Block of US Highway Route 9 in Erma.
The County Regional SWAT Team entered the residence with a court-authorized
search warrant and after securing the residence and occupants located within, turned the
scene over to Lower Township Detectives and Police Officers who searched the residence
and recovered multiple bags of heroin and numerous syringes and spoons used for the
injection of heroin.
Thomas M. Sexton, 22, of the 600 block of US Highway Route 9 was arrested
and transported to the Lower Township Police Department for processing.
He was charged with the following: Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and
Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.
Bail was set by Judge David DeWeese at $50,000 full cash. Sexton was transported to
the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
The investigation was ongoing for several months and was conducted by members of the
Lower Township Detective Division and Patrol Division. The Cape May County Regional
SWAT Team and the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department supplied assistance during the
execution of the search warrant.
