This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
NORTH CAPE MAY – During the morning hours of June 2, Lower Township Police Department received a report of a one-car motor vehicle crash in the area of the 200 block Holmes Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle, operated by Hallie Wheaton, 24, of North Cape May, had jumped a curb and struck a mailbox.
The investigation led to the arrest of Wheaton, who was issued five motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, CDS (controlled dangerous substance) in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving on a sidewalk. Additionally, the operator was criminally charged with two counts of possession of CDS, third degree. She was issued the aforementioned criminal charges on a criminal complaint summons and was released on her own recognizance. This matter is pending court.
This incident is still currently under investigation by Patrolman Jonathan Scheck and Patrolwoman Jennifer Anzelone.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
