This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
AVALON – Douglas J. Smith, 35, of Pilesgrove, was pulled over at 48th Street and Dune Drive by Patrolman William Robinson for driving without a front license plate and a malfunctioning taillight June 27 at 7:41 p.m.
During the motor vehicle stop, Patrolman Robinson noticed the odor of suspected marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, Smith was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, both disorderly offenses, and driving while intoxicated.
Smith was charged on a summons by the Avalon Police Department and released.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
