AVALON — According to reports from CBS 3, a suspect is now under arrest for the alleged dumping of waste off the beach in Avalon.
CBS 3 reported that the suspect, a Main Line dentist, allegedly confessed to the crime shortly after and is being treated at a mental health facility as the detectives seek additional evidence and prepare charges.
The suspect, according to sources, has a home in Avalon and also on the Main Line in Lower Merion, according to reports.
The Herald has contacted the county Prosecutor’s Office and the state Attorney General’s office and will update this story as soon as it becomes confirmed.
Beaches in Avalon and several other area shore towns were closed several times over the course of the past two weeks after medical waste, including needles, washed ashore.
The Attorney General had posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the medical waste wash-up in Avalon.
