WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police Department’s Patrol Division made a motor vehicle stop on the 6300 block of New Jersey Avenue Sept. 27. During the stop, the driver, Benjamin Davis, 22, of Cherry Hill, N.J., was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested without incident. During the investigation, the passenger, Alicia Wiley, 21, of Burlington, N.J., attempted to leave in the stopped vehicle. While attempting to arrest Wiley, she assaulted police officers and kicked out a police vehicle window.
Wiley was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, hindering apprehension, DWI, and refusing to submit to a breath test.
Davis was charged with DWI, refusing to submit to breath test, and hindering apprehension, when he offered false information to officers.
Bail was set at $2,500 on Davis and $10,000 on Wiley. Both posted 10 percent of the required amount and were released.
The officers sustained minor injuries.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
