Court House Man Charged in Reported Possible Child Abduction Incident

By Press Release

RIO GRANDE — On Sun., Oct. 10, at approximately 8:38 p.m., Middle Township Police were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute involving a possible parental abduction. The accused was reported to be driving an orange Honda Element.
The caller reported that her husband Albert Carlson, 25, of Court House, had thrown her out of their vehicle, threatened to harm her and their son and then drove off with their son in the car. Carlson was reported to be armed and dangerous.
Officers located the vehicle driven by Carlson on Route 9 in Rio Grande, and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Carlson was cooperative and did not have any weapons.
The responding officers spoke with the victim and Carlson. They learned that Carlson made threats to harm his wife and child, but he had not actually done so.
The victim reported that she had not been thrown out of the vehicle; she exited voluntarily because of the threats made by her husband. Carlson’s son was already in the vehicle when he drove off, and the investigation revealed that it was not a parental abduction.
Carlson was transported to headquarters where he was charged with terroristic threats against his wife. He was processed and released on a summons.
The victim declined to obtain a restraining order, and made arrangements to stay with a relative.
