Cash and Jewelry Heist Solved in Lower

VILLAS- The Lower Township Police Department investigated a burglary in the area of the first block of Wildwood Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.
Taken during these incidents was various pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $9,000. The suspect was also able to withdraw in excess of $10,000 cash from the victim’s bank account.
Lower Township Detectives followed up on these crimes and were able to locate and arrest an individual involved in the burglary.
Melissa Waltz of the first Block of Wildwood Avenue in the Villas was charged with burglary and theft for the above crimes.
Waltz was arrested by Detectives on July 8th and brought to the Lower Township Police Department for processing.
Judge Birchmeier set the bail at $20,000 and she was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
Additional jewelry still remains missing and Detectives believe that these been sold to unregistered precious metals dealers and are following up on leads in to recover the items.
