Bar Fight

DIAMOND BEACH — Lower Township police responded to a report of a man being beaten outside the Velvet Lounge at Pier 6600 Hotel July 28 at about 2 a.m. The victim reportedly told police that the suspect had confronted his friend earlier and pushed him off his bicycle.
Later in the evening, the victim observed the suspect at the Velvet Lounge and while leaving, the victim approached him to ask about the earlier confrontation. At that point, the suspect struck the victim in the face with a closed fist, according to a police report.
The victim reportedly fell to the ground where he was struck two more times in the face before being kicked or stomped on his left leg causing a break in the fibula bone. The victim was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Lower Township detectives spoke with the victim and a female friend who were at the scene. They described the suspect as a white male with dark hair in his mid 20s wearing an orange T-shirt and blue jeans. They stated three other white males and a female accompanied him.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending further investigation. Those with information may contact the Safe Neighborhood Tip Line at 886-1619 ext. 156 or Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 465-2800. Information will remain confidential and may be reported anonymously.
