AVALON – Avalon Police Department has announced the arrests of two men on charges that they shoplifted merchandise from a local business on May 29.
The men are identified as Joseph Trexler, 28, of Gibbstown and George Trexler, 31, also of Gibbstown.
The two men are brothers.
On the evening of Friday, May 29 at approximately 8:12 p.m., the incident occurred at a local business called Hodge Podge located at 2389 Ocean Drive here.
A surveillance video captured two men pulling up to Hodge Podge in a dark colored, four-door pickup truck.
The two men allegedly removed several items from the store without paying for them, including two white Spro Bucktail, two bunker Spro Bucktail, Taylor made dock steps and one Igloo cooler.
The owner of the store reported the items missing the following day on May 30. Then on Sunday, June 20, one man who was identified on the store surveillance tape returned to the Hodge Podge at 6:20 a.m. to purchase merchandise from the business.
Police were dispatched to the scene and identified the man who purchased items at the store as George Trexler.
Trexler and his brother, Joseph, have been charged with shoplifting and conspiracy.
All of the items taken from the Hodge Podge during the incident have been returned.
Both George and Joseph Trexler have a future court date to face both charges.
