September is National Preparedness month and in recognition of that, Cape May County will present an Emergency Preparedness Conference on Tuesday, September 25th from 10 a.m. until Noon. The free conference which is open to the public will take place at the County Administration Building located at 4 Moore Road, exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton said, “National Preparedness month is an ideal time to remind our residents and visitors how important it is to be prepared for an emergency.”
The intent of the conference is to provide elected officials and the public with updated information regarding preparedness efforts in place in the county and the state. Director Thornton added, “This is the seventh year that the County is hosting a Preparedness Conference. The first four focused mainly on Hurricane Preparedness, however, we broadened the scope of the conference to bring attention to how being prepared can help in many other situations.”
Participants at this year’s conference will include Edward Dickson, Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, Captain Dan Mitten, Emergency Management Section of the New Jersey State Police, Richard M. Shaw, Assistant Commissioner of Operations for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Robert Van Fossen, Director, Emergency Management Program, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, NBC 40 Meteorologist Dan Skeldon and Martin L.
