County Marks Patriot Day

Retired Col. Walter Nall addresses the Cape May County Patriot Day ceremony at County Administration Building.

CREST HAVEN – Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton and the board joined first responders and the public at the 16th Patriot Day at the county Administration Building Sept. 11.
Cmdr. Richard Scott, training officer, Coast Guard Training Center Cape May recalled where he was as he learned of the attack.
Retired Col. Walter Nall of the N.J. National Guard, featured speaker, touched on the importance of the National Guard. He noted the 253rd Transportation Company was in Florida assisting with hurricane repairs and restoration.
Nancy Vallese, national director, Youth with a Mission, delivered a prayer for victims and families.
Sharayah Hoffman and Zak Latorre sang the national anthem and “Amazing Grace” to close the program.
Marmora Fire Company provided an aerial truck and flew a large flag, something it has done since the first county Patriot Day in 2002.
