Cape May Stage, now in its 20th consecutive season of offering professional theatre in Cape May, is hosting their second annual Cottagers’ Night at the Theatre on Monday, Aug. 25 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, Bank and Lafayette streets in Cape May.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., members of the Cottagers’ Association along with the Board and staff of Cape May Stage, are invited to attend an outdoor summer cocktail party in the theatre’s piazza followed by a private showing of John Patrick Shanley’s Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play, “Doubt.”
At 7:30 p.m. the festivities will move to the newly restored auditorium for the evening’s special performance.
“Doubt” is set in a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, where a strong-minded woman wrestles with conscience and uncertainty as she is faced with concerns about one of her male colleagues.
This compelling drama by John Patrick Shanley (the Bronx-born-and-bred playwright and Academy Award-winning author of Moonstruck) dramatizes issues straight from today’s headlines, within a world recreated with knowing detail and a judicious eye.
After last year’s inaugural success, Cape May Stage’s Vice President of the Board of Trustees Tom Cutler is thrilled to bring back Cottagers’ Night at the Theatre for another season.
