College Credits to Transfer Easier

By Joe Hart

CHERRY HILL –– Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC) President Peter L. Mora was present Sept. 13 when Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed legislation here that would make it easier for students to transfer credits from community colleges to four-year institutions throughout the state.
“This landmark legislation will significantly improve access to higher education for New Jersey residents,” Mora said. Previously, students transferred to colleges on a course-by-course basis.
Now, each public higher education institution will enter into a collective statewide agreement in consultation with the state’s Commission on Higher Education and President’s Council.
The measure will eliminate the need for community college students to retake courses in four-year colleges and universities.
