Christmas in Middle Township kicks off

By On Deck Staff

The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce officially kicks off the holiday season in Middle Township with a festive evening on Friday, Dec. 5.
The celebration will be 6-9 p.m. in Cape May Court House and 7-9 p.m. in Rio Grande.
Christmas in Middle Township family fun activities include trolley rides along Route 9, gaily decorated shops and businesses providing hospitality, food, music, entertainment, and The Tree of Life Festival, which is traditionally hosted in the Old Court House.
The overwhelming success of last year’s event in Cape May Court House and Rio Grande has reunited the Chamber with the Middle Township Recreation Department, and we will offer an even larger selection of entertainment and activities.
The Tree of Life display and live auction has become the centerpiece of our 22nd celebration by helping local public service organizations to raise money through the decoration and sale of Christmas trees.
Funds raised this year will be donated to support Holy Redeemer Hospice, C.A.R.A., Cape Assist, and United Way of Cape May County.
Here’s how it works:
Businesses and organizations use this event as an opportunity to build holiday spirit within their establishments by designing and decorating a Christmas tree, which is donated for display and auction at the Tree of Life.
Trees are welcome from tabletop to six feet. Decorators must supply their own tree and decorations. No live trees.
Decorating will be done on Wednesday, Dec. 3 beginning at 3 p.m. at the old courthouse.
This year a competition will be held to recognize the best decorated trees in the following categories: most creative, artistic, elegant/formal, best children’s traditional, whimsical, best theme.
For questions, contact the Tree of Life chair, Denise Martindale at 609-425-0687.
Businesses or individuals donate $150 to have their name displayed as a sponsor of the Tree of Life Event.
