Cape May Bird Observatory operates two centers: Northwood Center, 609-884-2736, 701 East Lake Drive, Cape May Point and Center for Research and Education, 609-861-0700, (closed on Sundays and Mondays), 600 Route 47 North in Goshen (milepost 15.8). Both centers are generally open from open 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
No pre-registration required for the following programs just meet at the designated time and place. Fees are $6 for NJAS/CMBO members, $10 for non-members. Bring binoculars, field guides and drinking water and be sure to dress for prevailing weather and protection from sun and insects.
Programs may be cancelled at leaders’ discretion due to heavy rain or unsafe weather conditions.
Mondays: Birding the Meadows
March 23 to June 29, 7:30-9:30 a.m.
Join Pete Dunne and CMBO associate naturalists at The Nature Conservancy’s Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge on Sunset Blvd. The spring birding should prove interesting at this recently restored hot spot. The Nature Conservancy has instituted a fee to use this site; in addition to the walk fee, participants will need to purchase a TNC pass or pay TNC $1.
Wednesdays: Birding Cape May Point
March 25 to June 24, 7:30-9:30 a.m.
Some of South Jersey’s best birding occurs right in the heart of Cape May Point. Meet naturalists at the Wildlife Viewing Platform (Hawkwatch), Cape May Point State Park.
Maurice River Cruises aboard The Osprey with Captain David Githens: Saturdays March 21, 28, and April 4, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sundays March 22, 29, and April 5 at 1:30 p.m., $30 fee.
