Catch the excitement of Cape May deep sea fishing at a lecture sponsored by the Nature Center of Cape May, Saturday, September 6, at 10:30 a.m.
According to lecturer Charlie Langan, big game fishing is an adventure that takes fishermen to the edge of the Continental Shelf, nearly sixty-five miles from port. The waters there are hundreds of feet deep and have the warmth of the Gulf Stream from the south, making them the ideal home of many species of smaller baitfish, as well as the target – the “big game” species of shark, marlin, tuna, swordfish, dolphin, and wahoo.
“Historic Cape May offers one of the finest marine facilities in the Northeast – just minutes from the ocean, Delaware Bay, and the Intercoastal Waterway,” according to Langan, who is the charter agent for South Jersey Marina. Langan will share skills and techniques necessary for a uniquely personal and successful deep sea fishing experience.
Space for “Big Game Fishing” is limited; preregistration is recommended. The program fee is $10.00, discounted to $8.00 for New Jersey Audubon Society members.
