SEA ISLE CITY – A bicyclist who was struck by a city-operated vehicle three years ago has been awarded $1.58 million in her lawsuit against Sea Isle City, NJ.com reports.
Rhonda Martin, 58, of North Wales, Pa., was riding south on Landis Avenue near the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge July 23, 2014, when city employee Jeffrey Jones drifted right and struck her.
Martin broke her left elbow, tore her left rotator cuff and tore ligaments in her left wrist. She had surgery and underwent therapy for two years, the report said.
The jury reached its verdict Aug. 10 after both sides failed to reach a settlement during mediation.
Of the $1.58 million, $1.5 million is for future pain and suffering. The remainder is for medical expenses, $60,000, and past medical bills, $20,813, the report continued.
