Worker with Nail Gun Causes Alarm; School, Municipal Hall Locked Down

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
VILLAS – On June 4, at about 2:49 p.m., Lower Township Police responded to the neighborhood adjacent to the Douglass Memorial School and Lower Township Municipal Hall, on Bayshore Road in Villas for the report of a person alleged to be in possession of a shotgun. 
Subsequently, police identified the reported person as a male who was working on a project in his backyard with a nail gun. This identification has been confirmed by the person reporting the incident.
Due to security protocols, both the school and township hall were locked down while the police conducted an extensive search of the area, including numerous contacts with people and neighbors in the area.
After a short delay, students were permitted to go home. As a precaution, security was increased in the area.
