Wildwood Crest Man Killed in Route 55 Crash

PORT ELIZABETH— A Wildwood Crest man was killed on Wednesday, Feb 18 around 6:30 p.m. here on Route 55 at mile marker 21.5.
According to State Police, David M. Ferrante, 42 was driving north on Route 55 when, for an unknown reason the pickup truck he was driving left the road and struck a tree.
Firefighters from Port Elizabeth responded to the scene with the Millville Rescue Squad and Underwood Paramedics.
When emergency personal arrived they reported the victim to be heavily trapped. State Police arrived soon after, but medical personnel declared Ferrante dead at the scene, police said.
State Police closed traffic in one lane on Route 55 for 45 minutes with the assistance of the Cumberland County Fire Police while members of the State Police Fatal Accident unit investigated the accident.
