MILLVILLE- State Police are investigating the second fatal crash on Route 55 in less than forty eight hours.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene at 3:48 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 with the Millville Rescue Squad, Underwood Paramedics and South Star medevac.
According to State Police, Robert Field, 20, of Vineland, was traveling southbound on Route 55 when for an unknown reason his 1997 Honda Accord left the roadway and struck a tree.
The Millville Fire Department worked for over thirty minutes to free Field from the mangled wreckage.
Field was transported to Vineland Regional Medical Center by Millville Rescue Squad and Underwood Paramedics where he was pronounced dead.
Route 55 was shut down on the southbound side while an investigation was conducted.
The accident is under investigation by the State Police Fatal Accident Unit and Trooper M. Pagliughi, of the Port Noris Station.
