Utility Pole Accident Sounds Alarms

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — A car accident Sunday, Nov. 23 caused headaches for Middle Township police.
On that day, officers received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 9 by the Sun Bank.
As police arrived, they found a vehicle operated by a 20-year-old Ocean City resident had drifted off the roadway into a utility pole.
The driver was checked by Middle Township rescue, but did not require medical treatment.
Phone, cable and power companies responded to repair the pole that was split at the base from the collision.
As a result of this crash, police received numerous burglary and fire alarm calls in the Court House and Swainton sections of the township, due to a power surge from the impact damage to the power lines with the crash.
The crash is under investigation by Patrolman Dan Geiger.
