Upper Township Accident Claims Motorcyclist’s Life

GREENFIELD – New Jersey State Police from Woodbine Station investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred July 12 at 8:09 p.m. on State Highway Rte. 50 at milepost 1.1 at the intersection of Hope Corson Road in Upper Twp. The accident involved a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.
The motorcycle was heading northbound on Rte. 50, and the car was southbound on Rte. 50 attempting to make a left hand turn onto Hope Corson Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the car failed to yield to the northbound motorcycle. Upon collision, both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected off. The female passenger, Martha Tozer, of Dennis Twp,. was airlifted to AtlantiCare hospital in Atlantic City and is listed in stable condition. The driver of the motorcycle, Daniel Batchelor, from Belleplain, died as a result of injuries he sustained.
The investigation is ongoing. No other injuries were reported.
