DENNIS TOWNSHIP – A school bus and a fuel truck collided on the Garden State Parkway near Exit 17 around 8:20 a.m. Dec. 1.
New Jersey State Police told Shore News Today that the bus was transporting children, but none of them were injured during the crash. One had reports of pain, and EMS responded to check all the children.
According to The Press of Atlantic City, three children were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons.
The unidentified driver of the fuel truck was freed from the vehicle by rescue workers, and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center trauma unit with serious injuries.
The school bus was registered to Great American Trolley, but it is unknown at this time which school system the bus served. A second school bus arrived at 9 a.m. to transport the children to school.
The crash is under investigation.
State Police’s twitter account stated there were two crashes in the area of Exit 17 on the northbound side of the Parkway.
The second crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. at mile marker 17.9, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
A Mercury Villager overturned after it crashed with a Honda Accord.
According to the report, three people were inside the Villager, one was ejected, one was entrapped, and one was able to exit the car on their own.
No word on their conditions at this time.
The left lane remained closed for several hours.
