UPDATE: Truck Mishap Downs Power Lines, Utility Poles in North Cape May

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
NORTH CAPE MAY – On May 13, at approximately 1:23 p.m., the Lower Township Police Department was notified of a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash that had just occurred on Lincoln Boulevard in the area of the Cape May – Lewes Ferry entrance.
A multi-agency response was activated with the assistance from the Town Bank Fire Department, Delaware River and Bay Authority, Atlantic City Electric, and Lower Township Rescue. It was reported that a tractor-trailer had knocked down numerous utility poles.
Upon arrival at the scene Lower Township police observed three snapped utility poles and live wires laying across the roadway.
Crash investigation revealed the driver of the tractor-trailer was turning in to the Cape May – Lewes Ferry when the top of the truck caught a low-hanging wire which resulted in three utility poles being damaged and live wires on the road.
This resulted in residents in the surrounding area to lose power for a period of time. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
Atlantic City Electric responded and made repairs to the utility poles. The tractor-trailer was able to be driven from the scene after being deemed safe to do so by fire personnel.
This incident is being investigated by Patrolman Bartleson of the Lower Township Police Department.

NORTH CAPE MAY – Town Bank Fire Company was notified by Cape May County Dispatch of a tractor-trailer that accidentally took down multiple power lines and utility poles in the area of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal May 13 at 1:27 p.m.
Town Bank Fire command and fire units arrived and made the area safe while awaiting the arrival of Atlantic City Electric workers.
During the incident, the motoring public was cautioned when approaching and/or departing the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal, Ferry Road and Adriatic Avenue.
Fire/Police were used to direct traffic as electric company crews worked to restore the poles and power.
