UPDATE: Tree-Laden MUA Tractor-Trailer Flips on Route 47

By Al Campbell

DENNISVILLE — On Feb. 21 at about 7:50 a.m. Dennisville Volunteer Fire Department and Belleplain Emergency Corps responded to a report that a Cape May County MUA tractor-trailer, laden with evergreen trees en route to the Cape May County Sanitary Landfill, Woodbine, had overturned on Route 47 and Scotty Drive with the driver entrapped.
First units on scene reported bystanders had freed the driver from the wreckage.
Fire requested Cape May County Fire Police to the scene to divert traffic due to a pole that was struck with wires down. An AtlantiCare Paramedic unit requested a medevac to fly for the 53-year-old-male driver who had sustained a head injury in the crash.
South Star Medevac landed at Union Cemetery, South Dennis and transported the victim to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Trauma Division. The flight crew reported the victim to be in stable condition.
Route 47 was closed for over 90 minutes during the cleanup.
The accident is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police Woodbine Station.
