UPDATE: Police Identify Drivers in Deadly Parkway Crash

COURT HOUSE – The Garden State Parkway was shut down for approximately two hours on Friday, April 10, as police investigated a fatal head on collision that occurred at milepost 8.8 at 4:33 p.m.
According to state police, James E. Trout, 54 of Upper Darby, PA was traveling in the southbound lane when for an unknown reason his 1992 Mercury Topaz crossed the center grass median and struck a northbound 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Karen T. Thompson, of Springfield, MA.
Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lanes of the parkway.
Trout was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Tom Barbson.
Thompson was flown by Medevac 5 to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center’s trauma unit in Atlantic City.
Middle Township Ambulance Corps and Medic 9 responded to the scene with Court House and Swainton Fire Departments.
Middle Township Police and County Fire Police assisted with traffic.
The accident is under investigation by Trooper S. Murray of the Bass River Station.
