UPDATE: Police ID Pedestrian Struck by Auto in Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE — A pedestrian was struck here on Route 47 in the area of the Dunkin Donuts on Wednesday, Feb. 24 around 10:15 p.m.
South Star medevac was requested to fly by EMT’s on scene however the medevac was forced to abort the flight due to deteriorating weather conditions.
According to Middle Township police, the pedestrian, identified as Kevin Steck, of Dennisville, had attempted to cross the highway traveling south to get to the bus stop on the opposite side of the road.
A car, driven by Thomas Solenski, of Villas, was traveling east bound and struck Steck as he attempted to cross the street.
Steck was transported to the trauma unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
Both the driver and passenger in the car were not injured, police said.
The crash is under investigation and being handled by Patrolman Eugene Castellano.
