DENNISVILLE– A two vehicle head on collision caused Route 47 to come to a stand still on Tuesday, May 18.
Traffic was backed up for over a mile in each direction.
At around 8:15 a.m., Dennis fire department and Belleplain Emergency Corps responded to the scene and requested a medevac helicopter to fly. With a near downpour the medevac was grounded due to weather.
Belleplain Emergency Corps and Medic 3 transported Tami McCart, 42, of the Dias Creek to Cape Regional Medical Center.
According to state police, Eric Wilson, 40, of Dennisville, was driving southbound when he had problems with his steering and crossed into opposing traffic and struck McCart.
At 9:17 both lanes were reopened.
