Town Bank Fire-Rescue Boat Sinks at Utsch’s Marina Dock

By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

LOWER TOWNSHIP– A 35 foot Fire-Rescue boat the Robert C, sunk dockside here at Utsch’s Marina, Sea Tow owner Phil Risko confirmed.
The boat belonged to the Town Bank Fire Department, Risko said. No one was aboard the boat when it sunk, he said.
According to Risko they received the call at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, Feb 22. Risko said when he arrived only the top of the boat was sticking out of the water. Sea Tow crews worked most of the day to salvage the vessel, Risko said they just about had it out at around 4:45 p.m.
Risko could not estimate the amount of damage done because of the amount of equipment a Fire-Rescue boat has on board. Risko said a bare bones Fire-Boat could easily cost around $500,000.
The Town Bank Fire Chief was not immediately available for comment.
Risko said the cause of the boat sinking is undetermined.
