OCEAN CITY – A multi-agency search was launched Tuesday evening after witnesses reported a man appeared to jump from the Route 52 causeway bridge, police said.

The Ocean City Police Department responded to the area at approximately 6:43 p.m. on April 9 after receiving multiple reports from witnesses. Officers arriving on scene were initially unable to locate the subject.

Given the nature of the reports, authorities initiated an immediate and intensive search operation. Police deployed drones to scan the area, and assistance was requested from the U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police.

Following an expedited investigation by detectives, the individual, whose name was not released, was identified and located safely at a residence in Somers Point. He was later transported to Cooper Cape Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
