Springer’s posted news of Barbara Humphreys’ death on their Facebook page May 23:
We are heartbroken to share that Springer’s lost its matriarch tonight. Barbara Humphreys, an owner of Springer’s since 1975, passed away from injuries sustained in an accident last week. She loved her Springer’s Family of employees and customers alike. She was a sharp business woman but more importantly she was a kind and generous soul that loved her employees like family and made friends with hundreds of customers. When she and her husband bought Springer’s, she knew nothing about the ice cream business but she quickly became an expert in dairy science and all things ice cream. She will be missed more than words can say.”
