SOUTH DENNIS – All postal operations have been temporarily suspended at the South Dennis Post Office, located at 231 County Road, after a privately-owned vehicle crashed into the building Feb. 7.
According to a post on Dennis Volunteer Fire Company’s Facebook page, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Station 18 was dispatched to the Post Office for a reported vehicle into the building.
It appeared a vehicle struck the building and had since left the scene. Rescue Engine 1836 responded to the scene and checked the structure, and remained on location until utilities were secured.
Belleplain Emergency Corp., New Jersey State Police, Atlantic City Electric, and the U.S. Postal Police also responded to the scene.
Postal operations have been relocated to the Dennisville Post Office, located at 24 Hall Avenue, according to a release.
The driver of the vehicle has not been located.
A witness reported seeing a possible white Ford Explorer type vehicle, possibly driven by an older white male, Woodbine Station Commander Lt. Doug Pearson told the Herald in an email.
