ERMA – Three people were unharmed after making a dicey landing at the Cape May County Airport, Thursday evening.
Capt. Don Vanaman, of the Lower Township Police Department (LTPD), said that police responded to the Cape May County Airport for a report of a plane crash May 11 at approximately 7:10 p.m.
The LTPD station is located on the grounds of the airport.
Upon arrival, officers located the downed aircraft in the northern section of the runways. Police located the three occupants, who had just returned from an out-and-around flight originating from the Cape May County Airport, and who were all unharmed and declined treatment, Vanaman said.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and is currently under investigation.
A multi-agency response was conducted by the LTPD, Middle Township Police Department, Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), Erma Fire Department, and Inspira Rescue. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was also notified.
