Police Find DWI Suspect Hiding in Woods After Crash

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
COURT HOUSE — On July 18, 2009 at 2:45am, Middle Twp. Police Department received a call of a motor vehicle crash on Route 9 near the Court House Wawa where a vehicle struck a pole.
Police responded to find that a 1989 blue GMC pickup truck had crashed into an electric pole across the street from the Sturdy Bank Administration building.
Police found blood on the windshield and steering wheel of the vehicle but both occupants of the vehicle were not at the scene.
Officers found both occupants hiding in the woods nearby with facial and head injuries and had Middle Twp. Rescue transport them to Cape Regional Medical Center.
The driver, Michael J. Donnelly, 24, of North Cape May, was charged with DWI, Suspended Driver’s License, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injury, Failure to Report a Crash, No Seatbelt, No Headlights, Failure to Maintain Lane and Reckless Driving.
Ptl. Super is investigating the Crash and DWI.
