Pleasantville Driver Charged for Sept. 1 Hit-and-Run Crash

SEA ISLE CITY – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Thomas McQuillen of the Sea Isle City Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect from a hit-and-run accident, which occurred Sept. 1, that left a pedestrian with serious bodily injuries. 
According to a release, after a significant month-long investigation into the accident, Detective Giordano and Detective Sgt. Bradshaw from the Sea Isle City Police Department were able to identify the suspected driver as Wendi Rodriguez-Cuevas, 43, of Pleasantville.
On Oct. 4, after obtaining multiple court-authorized search warrants, Sea Isle City detectives were able to locate and arrest Rodriguez-Cuevas in Pleasantville. Rodriguez-Cuevas was arrested and charged with assault by auto, knowingly leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, endangering another, endangering an injured victim, hindering oneself by destroying evidence, along with numerous motor vehicle violations from the hit-and-run itself. 
Rodriguez-Cuevas was processed and released on a summons per New Jersey Bail Reform. 
The Sea Isle City Police Department extended thanks to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pleasantville Police Department for their support during the investigation.
