By Herald Staff

DIAS CREEK — A 17-year-old Philadelphia girl was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m. Fri., June 10 following a swimming pool accident at Hideaway Beach Condominium Campground, 43 Route 47 North.
According to Middle Township Police, at 2:20 p.m. they received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a possible drowning at Hideaway Beach Campground.
Rescue and police responded. Upon arrival, CPR was being performed on a 17-year-old female from Philadelphia by her friends.
Middle Township EMS took over CPR and transported the female to Cape Regional Medical Center in Court House where she was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the female and friends were taking turns seeing who could hold their breath underwater the longest. The female went to the bottom of the pool and did not come back up.
The female was then pulled from the pool where an adult friend and a family member of the friend started performing CPR. Parents of the victim were notified. Her name was not being released at this time.
AtlantiCare Medics also assisted on scene. Sgt. William Adams and Detective Mark Higginbottom investigated.
