Pedestrian Dies in S. Seaville Crash

SOUTH SEAVILLE – New Jersey State Police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in South Seaville around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1.
According to law enforcement officials, the pedestrian, Stephen Burgess, 38, of South Seaville, was struck near milepost 3.2 on Corson’s Tavern Road (CR 628), by a 2004 Ford SUV traveling southbound, driven by Joseph Buganski, 57, of Court House.
Burgess was pronounced dead at the scene.
Buganski was arrested for driving while suspended and causing death.
Ocean View Fire Company and Belleplain Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also on scene.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Cape May County Medical Examiner’s Office investigated the crash.
The crash remained under investigation as of Sept. 3.
