Para-glider Crash on Wildwood Beach Injures Flier

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency.
WILDWOOD — At approximately 12:42 p.m. Oct. 6, members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, Detective Division, and Wildwood Fire Department responded to Spencer Avenue and the beach for the report of motorized paraglider that had crashed on the beach.
During the preliminary investigation, a white male was found strapped into the para-glider seat, which was laying on its side in the sand. 
Wildwood Fire/Rescue began treating the victim. The victim was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
During the investigation, multiple witness statements were secured. 
They stated that while flying the para-glider over the beach, the victim’s parachute became tangled and collapsed, causing the victim to fall approximately 30-40 feet to the ground. 
The Wildwood Police Department is investigating the incident with the assistance of the Federal Aviation Administration.
