DENNISVILLE — A Ridley Park, Pa. woman was killed in a two-car crash on Route 47 at 9:52 p.m. Aug. 10.
On Aug. 10, troopers from the Woodbine Station were detailed to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 47, at milepost 18.5 Northbound in Dennis Township.
According to a press release, the accident occurred at 9:52 p.m., and involved two vehicles.
One vehicle, a 2006 silver Dodge Grand Caravan, was northbound, when another vehicle, a 2007 white Chevrolet Impala SS, was southbound, and for reasons unknown, crossed over into the northbound lane of traffic.
The Caravan broadsided the Impala on the passenger’s side, causing it to leave the roadway. It struck a guardrail on the northbound shoulder.
The driver of the Dodge, Randy Dougherty, 37, of Mullica Hill, was traveling with several family members.
All were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Impala, David Paytas, 19, of Holmes, Pa., was transported by Belleplain Emergency Medical Services to the trauma unit at Cooper Hospital in Camden, and was admitted in critical condition with multiple injuries.
His passenger, Katelyn Mariana, 18, of Ridley Park, Pa, was pronounced dead at the scene via telemetry at 10:15 p.m. by Dr. Katawla of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. An autopsy is pending.
Both lanes were closed for approximately five hours, and traffic was diverted to alternate routes.
