Ocean City Man Drowns

OCEAN CITY — A 36-year-old city resident drowned on Sept. 3, according to Ocean City Police Department.
At 6:07 p.m. the Ocean City Police Department, along with Fire and Rescue Services responded to the Fishing Pier at 14th Street and the beach for a subject unconscious at the water’s edge.
Patrolman Pat Walsh along with a citizen on location evaluated the victim, Mark A Mazzitelli, of Asbury Avenue, and began CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation).
Sgt. Brian Trostle arrived on scene and utilized the AED (automated external defibrillator) from his patrol vehicle on Mazzitelli.
Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and took over medical treatment of the victim.
Mazzitelli was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point where he was pronounced deceased by the on-duty physician.
At the time of the release the investigation had not revealed how long Mazzitelli was in the water prior to being discovered. The location where he entered the water was also unknown.
