Motorcyclist Injured in Crash

This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
DIAS CREEK – Middle Township Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 47 and Hand Avenue in Dias Creek at approximately 2 p.m. Sept. 10. 
According to a release, the investigation revealed Edwin Carpenter, 74, of Downingtown, Pa., was travelling north on Route 47 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Carpenter was passing Hand Avenue when a Subaru WRX driven by Joshua Alvarez, 20, of Goshen, attempted to turn from Route 47 southbound onto Hand Avenue. 
Carpenter was unable to avoid the Subaru, colliding with it, and he was ejected from the motorcycle. Carpenter was medevaced to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division with head and leg injuries. Carpenter is currently in stable condition. 
Middle Township EMS (emergency medical services), Court House Fire Company and the Cape May County Fire Police assisted on scene.
Charges are pending the completion of the investigation. Alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident.
