Middle Police Investigate Crash

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
COURT HOUSE — On Oct. 25 at 11:43 a.m., Middle Township police received a call of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Hand Ave. and Dias Creek Road. Upon arrival, officers noticed a Toyota Highlander under the traffic light, which was broken from its base and resting on top of the vehicle.
It was determined that Joseph Wallash 3rd, 32, of Clermont, NJ was traveling West on Dias Creek Road and entered the intersection of Hand Ave., when Elaine Reichert, 69, of CMCH, NJ ran the red light on Hand Ave. and stuck Wallash’s vehicle. Elaine Reichert was traveling East on Hand Ave. prior to entering the intersection. The crash held Wallash’s vehicle near the crash site, and sent Reichert’s vehicle into the traffic light pole at the Southwest corner of the intersection. The traffic light pole was broken and landed on top of Reichert’s vehicle.
Joseph Wallash 3rd was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for complaint of pain to his head. Elaine Reichert was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for complaint of pain to her chest. Traffic was diverted for several hours by Middle Twp. Police and Cape May County Fire-Police while the scene was cleared and the traffic light was replaced. The crash in being investigated by Ptl. Armondo Jones.
