Lower Police Urge Cell Phone Use During Disruption

By Herald Staff

ERMA — Lower Township Police Department advises that many land-line telephones with 884 and 898 ex-changes in the township cannot contact the department or use 9-1-1, in case of emergency.
They were informed that Verizon is working on the problem, but no time was given for remedy.
In the interim, cell phones should be used to contact the police department at 886-2711 for routine business or 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies.
The county Office of Emergency Management is working along with local authorities in this matter.
